In 1996, hospitality professionals Don Churchill and Carmel Churchill founded DonCar Management (DM), a holding company with the goal of consolidating their extensive international experience in hotel operations, attractions, tour management, and real estate sales, totaling over 70 years.
Don Churchill, who arrived in the Bahamas in 1994, had previously worked with Delta Hotels in Canada, specializing in managing distressed hotels for owners and financial institutions. He moved to Grand Bahama for a supposed six-month project, which extended to two years. In 1996, he married Carmel Forbes and decided to make Grand Bahama Island his permanent home. Don subsequently served as the Chief Operating Officer at UNEXSO and the Dolphin Experience for eight years and managed a vacation rental resort. He also worked as a consultant for the Caribbean Tourism Organization and became a licensed real estate agent.
During this same period, Carmel Churchill worked as the Operations Manager at H. Forbes Charter Services, the largest ground transportation provider on Grand Bahama Island. She later became the General Manager of Parrot Jungle's Garden of the Groves, held positions at the Old Bahama Bay Resort and Grand Lucayan Resorts, and served as the Director of Marketing Services for The Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board (GBITB), where she also chaired the Marketing Committee. Proudly representing GBITB as a Marketing Consultant, Carmel leveraged her 22+ years of hospitality experience to become a co-owner of DonCar Hospitality Management Services.
After exploring various individual projects, Don and Carmel formalized their decision to merge their expertise and passion for Grand Bahama Island, aiming to serve a diverse community, including vacation rentals, local tours, attractions, and real estate investment opportunities.
Their entrepreneurial journey led to the launch of Experience Grand Bahama, a vacation planning platform for local vacation rental property owners to manage, market, and promote their businesses to an international audience. Subsequently, Don and Carmel introduced a new website, DonCar Hospitality Management Services, which not only showcased their collective interests and expertise but also featured a refreshed logo and a wide range of additional services catering to both local and international investors.
This new website focuses on Real Estate Investor Services, Business-to-Consumer Vacation Planning, an array of Marketing Services, and Strategic Consulting Services for marketing, sales, and the management of distressed hotel inventory and operations.
DonCar Management's primary objective is to combine their passion for Grand Bahama Island with their commitment to tourism, hospitality management, and real estate sales. Their ultimate goal is to help their clients maximize the island's economic diversity and investments, thereby creating sustainable business opportunities for Grand Bahama Island.
